About the role
As an Electrical Inspector of Works at Aurecon, you will ensure that all electrical installations on site comply with approved drawings, specifications, Malaysian codes and safety standards. You will work closely with the Resident Engineer and project team to deliver high‑quality, compliant outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out daily site inspections and supervise electrical installation works to verify compliance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Monitor quality of workmanship and materials, ensuring they meet QA/QC and project specifications.
- Review electrical drawings, shop drawings, method statements and material submissions, flagging discrepancies and coordinating resolutions.
- Witness and document testing, commissioning and handover activities for HT/LV power distribution, substations, transformers, generators, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, UPS and ELV systems.
- Identify non‑conformances, issue site instructions or inspection reports and follow up on corrective actions.
- Verify contractor progress, assist in evaluating progress claims and variations, and maintain accurate site records and as‑built documentation.
- Coordinate with Resident Engineers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors and authorities to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in site coordination meetings, safety briefings and technical discussions, providing updates on quality and compliance.
- Travel between project sites as required and hold a valid driving licence.
Required profile
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia as an Inspector of Works (Electrical) or Inspector of Works (Engineering).
- Minimum 5 years of site supervision experience on industrial, manufacturing, institutional, pharmaceutical, data‑centre, commercial or mission‑critical projects.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian codes, testing & commissioning procedures and construction best practices.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
