About the role
The Smart Local Malaysia website covers food, places to visit and events across Malaysia. As an Editorial Assistant you will pitch stories, write them and see them published to a real audience, starting in your first few weeks. The internship lasts a minimum of 24 weeks and takes place in the Mid Valley office.
Key responsibilities
- Pitch stories in editorial meetings and learn which ones work
- Write listicles, features, news posts and opinion pieces, edited line by line
- Report on openings, tastings and events in person
- Create social graphics for the platform and take photos for articles when needed
Required profile
- Strong English, able to make a point without padding it out
- Knowledge of what is happening in Malaysia
- Wants to write for readers rather than for a grade
- Able to commit to 24 weeks and work from the Mid Valley office
- Writing samples such as coursework, a blog or a student publication
