Customer Settlement Specialist – Global Maritime Services

About the role

The Customer Settlement Specialist supports Wilhelmsen’s Global Business Services by managing cash flows between service‑agreement customers and Wilhelmsen Ports & Services (WPS) offices worldwide. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the role ensures accurate payment processing, fund distribution and reconciliation across multiple ports and currencies.

Key responsibilities

• Record and monitor cash transactions related to ship agency services.
• Verify customer payments and transfer funds to the appropriate WPS offices.
• Handle multiple port‑call (float) accounts and “call‑by‑call” payments.
• Update payment and float information in the IFS system.
• Reconcile balances between WPS and service‑agreement customers.
• Book all incoming payments and match them with supplier invoices.
• Communicate continuously with local WPS offices and global agents.
• Check for OFAC restrictions or currency limitations.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and financial statements for customers and internal managers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of finance or accounts‑payable experience, preferably in a high‑volume or SSC/BPO environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
• Excellent written and spoken English; additional language skills are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with enterprise systems such as IFS, SAP or Oracle.
