Buyer (Based in Penang)

About the role

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, machinery and services that equip our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities. You will collaborate across teams, monitor inventory, manage delivery scheduling, negotiate with suppliers and procure essential items that turn possibilities into realities for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Leads purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
• Leads problem resolution for material‑related accounting and receiving issues.
• Develops methods of business simplification for the procurement function.
• Participates in the development of ISO documents for the purchasing function.
• Manages activities of the purchasing group in the manager’s absence and oversees workload distribution among Buyers.
• Manages purchasing projects, monitoring cost, schedule and scope, and trains/audits lower‑level personnel.

• Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in procurement and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Understands best practices, market competition and integration with other functions.
• Acts as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues and may lead small projects.
• Solves complex problems using judgment from multiple information sources.
• Impacts customer, operational and project activities within broad guidelines.
• Communicates difficult information and builds consensus.
