Automation Engineer – RPA & Power Platform (1‑year contract)

About the role

The Global Technology Unit of BASF Shared Services Center in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Automation Engineer on a one‑year contract. You will work closely with global business enablement and solution delivery teams to design, implement and support automation solutions that streamline processes across the BASF Group.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated workflows using UiPath RPA and Microsoft Power Automate.
• Integrate automation solutions with enterprise systems such as SAP, SharePoint, APIs, databases and cloud services via REST APIs and connectors.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to map end‑to‑end processes, identify automation opportunities and define scope, requirements and success criteria.
• Create scalable solutions with proper exception handling and human‑in‑the‑loop mechanisms.
• Participate in testing phases (unit, SIT, UAT, FAT) and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated release processes.
• Monitor solution performance, optimise infrastructure usage and provide troubleshooting support.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks and support materials.
• Ensure compliance with BASF technology standards, security policies and governance practices for RPA and Power Platform environments.

Required profile

• Technical background in automation technologies with experience delivering RPA or low‑code solutions.
• Strong analytical skills to understand complex business processes and translate them into automated workflows.
• Ability to work collaboratively with global and cross‑functional teams.
• Good communication skills in English.
