Application Engineer – High-Speed Interconnects

About the role

3m is seeking a customer‑facing Application Engineer to support high‑speed interconnect solutions that combine copper and optical fiber technologies. You will work with data‑center, networking and other high‑performance connectivity customers worldwide, helping them design, qualify and integrate 3m products.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical liaison between 3m and customers for copper and optical‑fiber interconnects.
• Support design‑in activities, develop test plans, analyse results and validate performance against customer requirements.
• Provide technical consultation to sales teams, channel partners and end‑users on product selection, system integration and performance optimisation.
• Lead product demonstrations, evaluations and troubleshooting for customer applications.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality and marketing to convey customer feedback and influence future product road‑maps.
• Create and maintain application notes, technical presentations and training material.
• Monitor industry trends, standards and competitor technologies in high‑speed data communication.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in high‑speed copper and optical‑fiber interconnects.
• Experience working directly with customers in a technical support or application engineering role.
• Ability to develop test plans, analyse data and produce validated documentation.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
