Senior Project Manager – Solar Projects

About the role

The Senior Project Manager will lead the planning, execution and delivery of large‑scale solar power projects in Malaysia. Reporting to the Regional Construction Lead and dotted line to the Head of Project Development, the role oversees construction, grid connection, EPC contracts and commissioning for plants of 30 MW and above.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee construction of ground‑mounted solar farms (30 MW, 40 MW, 50 MW+), ensuring on‑time and on‑budget delivery.
• Manage project schedules, risks, resources and stakeholder coordination.
• Direct grid‑connection activities with MV/HV (132 kV) transmission lines and Loop‑In Loop‑Out arrangements, liaising with TNB/SESB.
• Select, negotiate and manage EPC contractors, monitoring performance and contract compliance.
• Coordinate permitting and regulatory approvals with local authorities and environmental agencies.
• Oversee testing, commissioning and Commercial Operation Date (COD) processes, securing final utility approvals.
• Ensure HSSE standards are met, supervising safety measures on site.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience in large‑scale solar project management and construction.
• Proven track record delivering solar plants of 30 MW and above, including grid‑connection and COD.
• Strong knowledge of EPC contracts, negotiation and execution.
• Hands‑on experience with Malaysian permitting and utility coordination (TNB/SESB).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering; PMP or PRINCE2 certification a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.
