Senior Project Associate

About the role

The Senior Project Associate will be based in Sabah and support IOM Malaysia’s operational presence, coordinating field activities, stakeholder engagement and reporting across migration‑related programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Sabah‑based operational focal point for daily liaison with state authorities, federal agencies, NGOs, UN agencies and other partners.
• Support planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of project activities, including meetings, trainings, workshops, field assessments and awareness events.
• Monitor field implementation, identify challenges, document emerging needs and propose follow‑up actions.
• Strengthen victim identification, referral pathways and protection‑sensitive case coordination with government and non‑government service providers.
• Collect, consolidate and analyse field information while ensuring compliance with IOM data‑protection standards.
• Prepare correspondence, meeting notes, field reports, briefing notes, presentations, research questionnaires and statistical tables.
• Maintain project archives, capacity‑building tools and administrative documents for knowledge management.
• Coordinate logistics, procurement, finance, security and travel arrangements with IOM’s Kuala Lumpur office.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations or a related field.
• Experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement and field monitoring, preferably in migration, protection or humanitarian contexts.
