Senior Motherboard/System Architect

About the role

ISSQUARED is looking for a Senior Motherboard/System Architect to lead the design of server motherboards from concept through mass production. This cross‑functional position bridges data‑center architecture, mechanical, power, firmware, and validation to deliver reliable, high‑performance products.

Key responsibilities

• Define high‑level architecture for data‑center motherboards, selecting CPUs, chipsets, memory, power and thermal solutions.
• Collaborate with PCB layout designers to set placement and routing constraints for high‑speed signals.
• Analyze designs for signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC compliance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and hardware/software compatibility issues.
• Work with firmware, software, mechanical, validation and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product integration.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to improve performance and competitiveness.

Required profile

• MSEE (CE) with 5+ years or BSEE with 7+ years of hardware design experience.
• 5‑10 years of hands‑on server product design covering compute, storage, networking and accelerators.
• Proven ability to lead projects from concept to production in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Server motherboard design, CPU interfaces (Intel/AMD), DDR memory subsystems, power delivery, high‑speed digital circuits.
• PCB and simulation tools such as Altium, Cadence, SI/PI and thermal analysis.
• Hands‑on lab experience with oscilloscopes and diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of x86 server architecture, 1U/2U/blade form factors, Windows/Linux OS, virtualization and cloud computing.
• Familiarity with BMC, IPMI, Redfish and standards like JEDEC, PCI‑SIG, USB‑IF, SATA.
