Senior Executive – Global Customs Preferential Management

About the role

This senior position ensures full compliance with international trade regulations and optimises the use of Free Trade Agreements across BASF's global operations. The role safeguards the company against financial and reputational risks by accurately determining and applying preferential origin in line with national customs laws.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate analysis of all products subject to FTAs and maintain required documentation.
• Collaborate with BU senior leadership, customs experts and management to optimise FTA processes and report global KPIs.
• Solicit data and certificates from suppliers to achieve cost‑avoidance status for business units.
• Communicate with customers and senior leaders to ensure FTA requirements are met.
• Support implementation of process and system changes related to FTAs in partnership with IT.
• Prepare operational reports tracking certificates issued, supplier declarations processed and transaction details.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 3‑5 years experience in preferential origin determination, FTAs and customs law.
• Strong analytical thinking, structured work organisation and teamwork competence.
• Fluent English (spoken and written).

Required skills

• HS tariff classification and customs valuation principles.
• Rules of origin and Free Trade Agreement knowledge.
• Advanced Excel or similar data‑management tools.
• SAP master data systems and SAP GTS.
