Senior Executive – Customs Operations, Asia Pacific

About the role

The Senior Executive for Customs Operations in the Asia Pacific region will be based at BASF's Kuala Lumpur Service Centre. The role ensures smooth customs‑related activities, supports business units, and guarantees compliance with foreign‑trade regulations while delivering high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver customs services to internal customers and act as the primary point of contact for import/export queries.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with trade compliance, supply‑chain and other internal partners.
• Handle business unit queries such as duty reviews, analysis and ad‑hoc requests.
• Organise meetings and business reviews with regional partners.
• Manage hub operational tasks including customs documentation, HS‑code maintenance and duty rate verification in SAP.
• Serve as a key user for customs‑related systems and tools, performing classification and origin‑eligibility analysis.
• Validate import documentation to ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in customs operations or foreign‑trade compliance.
• Strong understanding of customs laws, regulations and HS‑code classification.
• Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders across functions.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving.
