Research Associate - Asia Centre

About the role

The Research Associate at Asia Centre supports all research activities carried out by the Centre. The postholder must be fluent in written and spoken English. The position is open only to Malaysian nationals.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to research conceptualisation and design, draft research proposals and implement surveys, interviews and focus group discussions
• Undertake online and offline research, review and analyse documents and summarise findings
• Compile data into tables and infographics, prepare presentations and design and administer online questionnaires
• Draft, edit and reference research proposals, baseline studies, commentaries, narrative reports, policy briefs, book chapters and books
• Liaise with donors, publishers, external researchers and speakers of research events such as conferences and seminars
• Support the day-to-day administration and reporting of the Centre's research projects

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in human rights or related subjects such as law, politics, social sciences, international relations, development studies or Asia/ASEAN studies
• One to three years of relevant research work experience
• Excellent oral, written and public presentation skills in English
• Ability to critically analyse and organise information from diverse sources, self-motivated and able to work under pressure with competing deadlines

Required skills

• Expertise with MS Office tools
• Familiarity with CANVA, WordPress and other relevant software
