Production Manager – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Production Manager will lead daily production operations at BASF’s Pasir Gudang plant, ensuring safe, on‑time and high‑quality output while developing the production team.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with environmental, health and safety rules and maintain high safety standards.
• Plan, organise and manage daily production activities to meet schedules and target quantities.
• Lead, mentor and develop Production Superintendents, Supervisors, Boardmen and technicians, fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Conduct training, performance evaluations and succession planning for key roles.
• Facilitate effective communication within the production team and across departments.
• Perform internal audits supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards.
• Implement quality control measures and coordinate production trials, including recommendations from Toray via the MOC process.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, polymer engineering, materials science or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of production management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with polymerisation and distillation processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement.
