Production Manager – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Production Manager will lead daily manufacturing activities at BASF’s plant in Pasir Gudang, ensuring safe, on‑time and high‑quality output while developing the production team.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure strict compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Plan, organise and control daily production to meet schedule and volume targets.
• Lead and mentor Production Superintendents, Supervisors, Boardmen and technicians, fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Conduct training, performance reviews and succession planning for key roles.
• Coordinate internal audits supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards.
• Implement quality control measures and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage plant modification (MOC) projects and collaborate on trials with technology partners such as Toray.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of production management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with polymerisation and distillation processes.
• Proven ability to lead large teams and handle multiple priorities under pressure.
• Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
