Media Associate - Asia Centre

About the role

Asia Centre is looking for a Media Associate proficient in written and spoken English. The role covers drafting articles and social media text, producing multimedia content, managing social media platforms and supporting media and communication strategies across its regional offices. It also supports the Media Officer in producing photos, videos and infographics.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in drafting press releases, event articles and activity reports
• Create digital content such as icons, infographics and tiles using Canva
• Format and lay out reports for online publication
• Upload articles, pictures, infographics and reports to Asia Centre websites
• Schedule and draft social media posts for all Asia Centre channels
• Help set up and operate media equipment for photography, audio and videography
• Ensure timely distribution of event materials to stakeholders
• Help maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists and partners
• Maintain an inventory of media tools and equipment
• Follow Asia Centre's brand guidelines on all media outputs

Required profile

• Malaysian national, aged 28 and above
• Based in Johor Bahru or Nusajaya, with own transport and accommodation
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Media, Communications, Journalism or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in media production, communications or a related role
• Experience with content drafting and editing
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills in English; able to work independently and under pressure

Required skills

• Familiarity with cameras, microphones and lighting
• Adobe Suite and Canva
• Photography, audio/video recording and editing
