Manager, Import Export & Customs Operations Malaysia

About the role

BASF SE is seeking a Manager to lead Import, Export and Customs Operations for its Malaysia business. The role combines strategic oversight, team leadership and close collaboration with logistics partners to ensure seamless international trade.

Key responsibilities

• Manage import, export and customs operations for Malaysia, ensuring compliance with global and local regulations.
• Lead and develop the performance of the import‑export and customs team, including coaching and career planning.
• Oversee logistics service providers (LSP) and the lead logistics provider (LLP) within the defined operational scope.
• Steer performance metrics for import, export and customs, using analytics to maintain high operating discipline.
• Conduct risk management for team and service‑provider activities, covering access management, data protection and business continuity.
• Own operational processes, initiatives and projects related to supply‑chain operations serviced by Global Business Services.
• Establish, document and ensure adherence to supply‑chain, import‑export and customs procedures in line with global, regional and local policies.
• Collaborate with logistics procurement, service providers, customs and foreign‑trade communities, and internal business units on escalations and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing import, export and customs functions, preferably in an international manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
• Ability to analyze performance data and drive operational excellence.
• Experience in risk management, data protection and business continuity planning.
• Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration abilities across logistics, procurement and business units.
