Manager, Buyer (M3)

About the role

The Manager, Buyer (M3) leads the buying function, directing buyers and expediters to achieve company objectives while maintaining strong vendor relationships. This role is responsible for shaping procurement policies and ensuring cost‑effective sourcing for engineering and manufacturing needs.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives.
• Evaluate vendor reliability and oversee vendor surveys to maintain adequate working relationships.
• Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
• Develop policies and procedures for procurement operations.
• Monitor cost, schedule and performance aspects of major sub‑contracts.
• Coordinate purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing to keep inventories at planned levels.

• Analyzes situations or data, reviewing relevant factors to make informed decisions.
• Receives assignments with clear objectives and recommends policy changes as needed.
• Provides direction to employees in line with established policies and management guidance.
