Inspector of Work (IOW) – Architecture, CSA, Mechanical & Electrical

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking experienced Inspectors of Work (IOW) to join its team in Kuala Lumpur. The role supports the company’s purpose of shaping a world of trust by ensuring construction projects meet design, code, and quality standards across architecture, civil‑structural‑architectural (CSA), mechanical and electrical disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all construction activities strictly follow approved design documents, technical specifications, national codes and industry standards, and verify that any deviations are formally approved.
• Review and approve quality certificates, test reports and supplier documentation; conduct on‑site material inspections and quarantine non‑conforming items.
• Monitor workmanship, witness critical construction processes (e.g., concrete pouring, steel reinforcement, waterproofing) and enforce corrective actions for deficiencies.
• Supervise laboratory and field tests such as soil compaction, concrete strength and weld integrity, and confirm compliance with specifications.
• Maintain detailed quality documentation, prepare non‑conformance reports and track corrective actions to closure.
• Recommend process improvements, provide guidance to contractors and participate in quality coordination meetings with project managers, general contractors and client QA/QC teams.

Required profile

• Maximum age of 55 years and at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Familiarity with design drawings, local construction codes and ability to identify quality issues on site.
• Registered graduate engineer or Inspector of Work with BEM and able to provide proof of certification.
• Willingness to work on a contract project basis for a minimum of one year.
