Inclusion Assistant – SEN Teaching Support

About the role

The SEN Teaching and Learning Assistant supports the SEN Centre at Tenby International School Setia EcoHill, delivering planned learning support for students aged 4‑16 with special educational needs. The role focuses on implementing activities designed by the SENCo, teachers and specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for SEN students according to teacher and specialist plans.
• Assist students in both the SEN Centre and mainstream classrooms, breaking tasks down and giving clear instructions.
• Implement IEP targets, support plans and therapy strategies as directed.
• Support communication, behaviour, emotional regulation and sensory needs using agreed strategies.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
• Observe progress and give feedback to teachers and the SENCo.
• Prepare and adapt learning resources and maintain simple records of student progress.
• Promote student wellbeing, inclusion, dignity and safety at all times.

• Committed to safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusive education.

Required skills

• Relevant qualification in education, SEN, child development or psychology (degree or SEN qualification is an advantage).
• 2–3 years’ experience supporting students with special educational needs in a school setting.
• Experience with a range of needs such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and emotional regulation.
• Proven ability to deliver 1:1 and small‑group support based on specialist plans.
• Good spoken and written English with clear communication skills.
