Head of Performing Arts Department

About the role

The Asia Pacific International School is seeking a Head of Performing Arts to lead its Performing Arts department from January 2027. Reporting to the Head of International, the role focuses on delivering high‑quality teaching, developing curriculum, and fostering a vibrant learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Performing Arts team, promoting professional development and sharing best practices.
• Oversee curriculum design, mapping, assessment moderation and ensure alignment with IGCSE/GCSE standards.
• Manage department budget, order educational resources and maintain a stimulating learning environment.
• Use data to identify under‑achieving or gifted students and implement appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate with programme coordinators, SEN team and secondary leadership on curriculum updates, behaviour and inclusion strategies.
• Organise department meetings, appraisals, peer coaching and contribute to school‑wide HOD meetings.
• Ensure safeguarding, well‑being protocols and effective communication with parents and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, with a postgraduate teaching qualification.
• In‑depth knowledge of the IGCSE or GCSE Performing Arts syllabus.
• Minimum three years of full‑time teaching experience in an international school setting.
• Strong command of written and spoken English; fluency in Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.
• Proven leadership and management abilities.
