Director, Communications (West Southeast Asia)

About the role
Mastercard is seeking a senior communications leader to shape and deliver integrated internal and external messaging for its West Southeast Asia division. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of AP Communications, the Director will partner with divisional leaders, regional teams and global colleagues to translate complex technology, regulatory and business topics into clear, compelling narratives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead integrated internal and external communications aligned with enterprise priorities and divisional business goals across multiple markets.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to divisional and market leaders on executive visibility, media engagement, employee communication and reputation management.
- Develop and execute communications plans that support Mastercard’s technology, innovation, security, public affairs and corporate priorities.
- Translate complex business, technology and regulatory issues into audience‑relevant stories for employees, media, customers, partners and policymakers.
- Drive executive and thought‑leadership programmes across speaking platforms, media opportunities, owned channels and internal forums.
- Manage proactive and reactive media relations, issues preparedness, crisis response and reputational risk mitigation.
- Build and maintain strong agency, media and stakeholder relationships to ensure consistent message delivery.
Required profile
- Significant experience in corporate, strategic or public‑affairs communications, preferably within technology, financial services or other highly regulated sectors.
- Proven ability to advise senior executives, anticipate reputational issues and craft communications strategies that protect trust.
- Strong track record delivering integrated internal and external communications across diverse markets and cultures.
- Excellent writing, editing, storytelling and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex topics.
- Resilience, discretion and composure under pressure, especially when managing media, crises or stakeholder communications.
- Fluency in English required; additional Southeast Asian language capability is advantageous.
