Customs Operations Internship

About the role

This internship provides students with hands‑on exposure to customs operations within the chemical supply chain. You will work alongside BASF’s customs team to understand how goods move across borders and how trade regulations impact business.

Key responsibilities

• Learn the fundamentals of customs procedures and terminology specific to the chemistry industry.
• Observe and map the end‑to‑end customs process flow.
• Assist with HS‑code classification and verify its impact on documentation and tax calculations.
• Analyse the effect of duties, taxes and trade agreements on international transactions.
• Support improvement initiatives by contributing ideas and timelines.
• Complete small assignments to apply acquired knowledge.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a university program related to logistics, international trade, supply chain or a similar field.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Motivation to learn about global trade and customs regulations.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of HS‑code classification.
• Familiarity with customs duties, taxes and free‑trade agreements.
• Ability to work with process documentation and data analysis.
