Content Analyst - ESG Data

About the role

LSEG is hiring a Content Analyst for its Kuching office within Financial Content Operations, which serves clients engaged in equity research. The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) vertical provides integrated financial and extra-financial information on nearly 80% of global market capitalisation, covering over 500 metrics including ethical screening criteria and sustainability performance. Data are gathered from public sources and manually collected, then quality controlled and verified by analysts and automated checks.

Key responsibilities

• Collect ESG-related quantitative and qualitative data from annual reports, sustainability reports, company websites and other filings of publicly traded companies.
• Research and analyse the data according to a pre-defined ESG ratings methodology.
• Support analysis with brief comments and rationale, and cite the source documents used.
• Process data according to set timeliness, including data received from contributors.
• Support specific projects as assigned by the manager and deliver high-efficiency, high-quality data.
• Proactively identify and resolve data problems, and share observations and feedback to improve the process.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Professional working proficiency in English and Mandarin (at least secondary school reading and comprehension), as research involves reviewing documents in these languages.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with high attention to detail when reviewing disclosures and numerical datasets.
• Adaptable to changes in ESG standards, data requirements and market environments.
• Able to meet strict weekly timeliness and quality standards, multi-task and prioritise tasks, and take ownership of assigned work.
• Preferred: interest in sustainability, climate change and ESG reporting trends, experience in ESG data handling or corporate disclosure review, and a proactive team player.
