Compliance Manager

About the role

BigPay is hiring a Compliance Manager in Kuala Lumpur to support the Compliance Officer and Group Chief Legal Officer. The role covers licensing, regulatory engagement, compliance assurance and advisory work in line with the laws and regulations governing the company's business and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Licensing: prepare, assist and research applications to local regulators for licences, approvals and permits to launch and run new financial services products, including markets such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
• Regulatory: advise on regulatory and compliance matters and engage with local regulators where required.
• Advisory: review, specify and advise on internal governance policies, SOPs, processes and policies, and improve the business framework so it complies with applicable laws.
• Compliance assurance: carry out gap analysis, compliance reviews and testing.
• Other work assigned by the Group CLO and/or Compliance Officer.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or MBA degree.
• At least 8 years of working experience.
• Experience in a regulatory and business environment, fintech and/or a start-up in financial services such as e-money and remittance; experience with money lending, investment products and services is an added advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of E-Money regulations, the Financial Services Act 2013, the Money Services Business Act 2011 and anti-money laundering regulations; familiarity with the Moneylenders Act, Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 and data protection laws is an added advantage.
• Strong research, writing and analytical skills, good interpersonal skills, professional appearance and high integrity.
• Highly proficient English, written and spoken.
