Category Manager - eComponents

About the role

Global Diagnostics Procurement (DOP) at Roche is looking for a Category Manager for e-Components based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The role takes ultimate accountability for the global procurement strategy and end-to-end supplier networks for electronic components used in next-generation diagnostic devices. It is an individual contributor position reporting directly to the Senior Global Category Lead Electronics & Systems, with a focus on strategic vision, category development, pipeline building and supplier relationship management.

Key responsibilities

• Collate market intelligence, supplier data and business requirements to build a formalized global category strategy and initiative pipeline
• Lead high-value commercial and contractual negotiations for strategic suppliers
• Manage key global suppliers, set up development and innovation programs, monitor value targets and manage supplier risks
• Develop and maintain category guidance documents for procurement colleagues and business users
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders, challenge demand and specifications, and manage risk and CSR reviews
• Coach procurement colleagues, provide professional development, manage a shared Associate Category Manager and track budget spend

Required profile

• University degree (Business or Life Sciences preferred); post-graduate business qualification preferred
• 5+ years of strategic and operational procurement experience, including category management and strategic sourcing
• 5+ years of business experience in a regulated industry such as diagnostics, with awareness of legal and quality risks
• Strong knowledge of electronic components procurement, including passive and active component lifecycles, contract manufacturing, PCBs and APAC electronics availability
• Advanced knowledge of AI applications and digital transformation (Digital 2.0 / Industry 4.0)
• Proven financial acumen, including total cost of ownership and cost modeling
• Strong communication, project management and change management skills; business-level English; up to 30% domestic and international travel
