Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

As a Buyer at Applied Materials in Penang, you will be responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, machinery and services that equip our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities, collaborating across teams to ensure timely delivery and cost‑effective sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiates pricing and terms of purchase, managing strategic suppliers with spend over $10M.
• Issues RFQs, analyses proposals, negotiates prices and delivery, and processes purchase orders.
• Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering to maintain inventory at planned levels.
• Expedites receipt of materials, verifies deliveries, approves payments and maintains records.
• Leads problem resolution for material‑related accounting and receiving issues.

Required profile

• Demonstrates expanded conceptual knowledge in procurement and broadens capabilities.
• Experienced with ERP or MRP applications and understands key business drivers.
• Provides informal guidance to new team members and solves straightforward problems using technical judgment.
