Boarding Officer / Senior Boarding Officer – Malaysia

About the role

The Vessel Boarding Officer is the on‑site representative for Inchcape Shipping Services in Malaysian ports. You will attend vessels on arrival and departure, coordinate all regulatory and operational formalities, and ensure compliance with local maritime regulations and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Attend vessels at berth, anchorage or offshore terminal to manage arrival, stay and departure formalities.
• Coordinate clearances and inspections with port authorities, immigration, customs and the marine department.
• Deliver and collect ship documents such as crew lists, arrival/departure declarations and cargo paperwork.
• Support crew changes, identity verification, gate‑pass arrangements and immigration procedures.
• Maintain safety and security compliance, including the ISPS Code, both onboard and at port.
• Arrange supply deliveries, repairs and husbandry services as required.
• Record boarding activities, prepare reports and manage related expenses.
• Provide emergency support and respond to last‑minute vessel requirements outside regular hours.

Required profile

• Availability to respond to operational needs 24/7.
• Ability to liaise effectively with customs, immigration, marine department and other government agencies.
• Understanding of HSSE, compliance and corporate risk management policies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ISPS Code compliance procedures.
• Experience using the MMSW and SCS systems for vessel clearance.
