Senior Executive – Global Customs Classification

About the role

The Customs Classification Senior Executive is responsible for all activities required for customs classification of BASF products, raw materials and non‑chemical materials, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The role is part of the Global Customs Classification team and works closely with national counterparts to support business units worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver customs classification services to internal business units and respond to ad‑hoc queries.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with supply‑chain, trade‑compliance and other stakeholders.
• Maintain master data for customs classification in BASF’s databases and oversee non‑chemical material classification globally.
• Identify relevant customs laws, monitor regulatory changes and ensure immediate compliance.
• Prepare monthly statistics, KPI reports and support dashboard data preparation.
• Automate routine data collection, standardise reporting processes and resolve classification discrepancies.
• Manage service mailbox, SharePoint/Teams folders and contribute to concept development for process optimisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related scientific field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in customs classification, foreign trade or related supply‑chain functions.
• Strong analytical and work‑management skills with fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
