Senior Associate, Global AML Team

About the role

MUFG Investor Services, a division of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, is hiring a Senior Associate for its Global AML team in Kuala Lumpur. The role covers requesting anti-money laundering (AML) documentation from investors in MUFG-administered funds, liaising with investors and clients, maintaining AML records and handling compliance queries.

Key responsibilities

• Request appropriate AML documentation from investors in MUFG-administered funds and liaise with them verbally and in writing until all documents are obtained.
• Keep an overview of complete and incomplete AML records and ensure they are completed.
• Follow up on pending AML requests in line with MUFG escalation and follow-up procedures.
• Maintain and safeguard AML files and trackers in line with MUFG's data policies.
• Liaise regularly with the Investor and Client Operations teams and respond to AML-related queries accurately and on time.
• Clear, investigate or verify possible matches generated by the MUFG screening application against sanctions lists, adverse media and PEP lists.
• Handle and escalate complex queries and complaints in line with company policy.
• Prepare investor files for review by the Senior Manager, Compliance or MLRO.
• Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as requested.

Required profile

• A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in an AML or compliance role.
• Experience reviewing investors for AML purposes.
• Diligent and methodical approach to tasks.

• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients, investors and management.
