Music Teacher – Primary (International School)

About the role

The Asia Pacific International School is seeking a qualified Music Teacher to join its primary department starting January 2027. The role involves delivering high‑quality music instruction, creating engaging resources, and supporting the holistic development of students.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver music lessons aligned with the international and Malaysian curricula.
• Assess student progress and implement targeted support for under‑achieving pupils.
• Collaborate with year‑team colleagues as a Class Tutor and contribute to year‑team initiatives.
• Develop and maintain effective literacy, numeracy and ICT integration within music lessons.
• Engage with parents and carers to communicate student progress and curriculum expectations.
• Participate in school events, open evenings and marketing activities to showcase student achievements.
• Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression for all pupils, including those with special educational needs.
• Maintain accurate records and provide constructive feedback to students.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children in accordance with school policies.

Required profile

• Degree in performing arts or music, with a relevant teaching qualification.
• Minimum three years full‑time experience teaching music in an international primary school.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Patient, responsible, passionate about teaching and able to work collaboratively.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Computer literate with good interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to develop effective resources and study skills for independent learning.
• Commitment to ISP core competencies and continuous professional development.
