Data Specialist – UN Resident Coordinator System

About the role

The United Nations Resident Coordinator System in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Data Specialist to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. The role involves designing data collection systems, analytics, and visualisation tools while collaborating with UN agencies, NGOs and national statistical partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems and analytics to optimise statistical efficiency and quality.
• Identify, analyse and interpret trends using statistical methods on structured and unstructured data.
• Support the development of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) products for UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks, leveraging Power BI and approved UN indicators.
• Maintain interoperability of digital tools and dashboards with national SDG indicator frameworks, using SDMX standards where appropriate.
• Create interactive and static visualisations and dashboards to communicate findings to management.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists and external UN agencies, NGOs and national statistical partners.
• Lead production of data products such as reports, newsletters and data clinics, and provide training on data analytics and results‑based management.
