Staff Relations Manager (Japanese Speaking)

About the role

Amgen is hiring a Staff Relations Manager to support its Japan Asia-Pacific (JAPAC) region, specifically Japan, based in Amgen Malaysia or Japan. The role reports to the Regional Staff Relations Lead and covers HR investigations and staff relations guidance for managers and staff at Amgen Japan.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and/or direct thorough, timely and impartial HR investigations into potential violations of HR policies (harassment, discrimination, retaliation) involving staff at Amgen Japan, keeping matters confidential and objective
• Create professional investigation records, including plans and summaries, and report findings clearly to HR colleagues, legal partners and business leaders
• Act as a thought partner to managers on performance management, disciplinary action, conflict and workplace accommodation
• Develop and maintain relationships with key partners at Amgen Japan and counsel local HR Business Partners on employee relations issues
• Participate in or counsel on corrective counseling and termination conversations
• Document cases in tracking systems, update site and Staff Relations leadership regularly, and help the Staff Relations Lead drive continuous improvement and training on HR policies and reporting violations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above and 5 years of investigations/employee relations experience
• Fluency in Japanese and English (written and spoken, reading and comprehension)
• Experience working with unions or in labor relations
• Experience working across countries and cultures, and ability to manage multiple cases and projects

Required skills

• Knowledge of applicable employment laws, regulations and business practices
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
• Analytical, problem-solving and project management skills, with strong judgment and independence
