About the role
We are seeking a Senior Telecom Engineer to join the Technology Solutions team in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The role is a full‑time consultancy position employed by Brunel and integrated into the Semco Maritime Technology Solutions team, supporting EPCI communication projects for the oil & gas sector.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop telecommunication systems covering radio communication, security, navigation aids and wired communication.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications and bulk material listings for procurement.
- Select appropriate telecom equipment and create system diagrams and schematics.
- Provide technical input for reports, weight calculations and installation plans.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and assist the Project Manager in project execution.
- Participate in all engineering phases from feasibility to detailed design, and attend customer visits and technical meetings.
Required profile
- Local Malaysian candidate (no work‑pass or visa sponsorship available).
- Proven experience in at least one of the telecom system categories listed below.
- Understanding of Semco’s business model and value chain.
- Ability to analyse business demands, align priorities with project objectives and communicate technical knowledge.
Required skills
- Radio Communication Systems: GMDSS, Microwave Radio, SCADA Radio, Trunked Radio, Crane Radio, Radio Dispatch, Satellite Phone.
- Security Systems: Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion Detection, PABX (VoIP), Person On Board (POB).
- Navigation Aids: Radar, ECDIS, Auto Pilot, AIS, DGPS, LRIT, Compass, Echo Sounder, Speed Log, VDR, Navigation & Obstruction Lights, RACON, Fog Horn, BNWAS, VSAT, Entertainment System, EMS.
- Wired Communication: PAGA, Page Party, Talk Back, Smart Series, Driller, PABX (Analog), Sound‑Powered Phone System.
