Global Customs Operations Executive

About the role

The Global Customs Operations Executive supports BASF's Asia Pacific Service Centre in Kuala Lumpur, ensuring smooth customs processes for imports and exports while maintaining compliance with local and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver customs services to internal business units and act as the primary point of contact for customs‑related queries.
• Prepare, issue, verify and maintain customs import/export documentation and duty rates in SAP or a customized database.
• Review documentation for accuracy and compliance with customs laws and regulations.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to keep processes up‑to‑date.
• Support process‑improvement projects, standardise reporting, and automate routine data collection for dashboards.
• Develop and maintain process documentation such as SOPs, work guides and work instructions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies such as delayed shipments, missing paperwork or tariff classification issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience with import and export customs procedures.
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.
• Ability to work with SAP or similar customs databases and to produce accurate documentation.
