DevOps Engineer – Data Catalog & API Development

About the role

Join BASF’s Digital Hub in Kuala Lumpur as a DevOps Engineer within the Data Transparency team. You will help build and operate the technical foundations that enable users to find, discover and consume data across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evolve Data Catalog workflows with a focus on maintainability and rapid change cycles.
• Modernize workflow logic by creating API‑based solutions that accelerate delivery, debugging and reuse.
• Develop, maintain and support backend APIs in Python (Django/Django REST Framework) for scalable system integrations.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and release procedures for API and data‑automation components, ensuring safe deployments, environment promotion and rollbacks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience designing and implementing workflows using BPMN 2.0 and Groovy scripting.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Required skills

• Python development, especially with Django and Django REST Framework.
• Experience with BPMN 2.0 and Groovy scripting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure services (App Service, AKS, Container Apps, Storage, ADLS Gen2, Azure AD/OAuth2, Key Vault, Application Insights).
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for cloud‑native applications.
