Associate Specialist – Accounting to Reporting

About the role

Our Business Service Center in Petaling Jaya supports global financial processes for Merck. The Associate Specialist – Accounting to Reporting (AtR) ensures that transactions for APJC markets are accurately recorded, compliant with US GAAP and local statutory requirements, and reflected in the company’s accounting records.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general ledger support and analysis, including period‑end close for assigned markets.
• Maintain accurate accounting ledgers by posting all required items in a timely manner.
• Execute monthly account reconciliation processes and ensure compliance with corporate standards.
• Collaborate with local finance teams, virtual finance teams and other BSC towers to deliver financial reporting.
• Assist in the review and sign‑off of the final financial package and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and participate in global projects and initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
• 1–3 years of finance or accounting experience in a multinational environment; fresh graduates are also encouraged.
• Business‑level English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Experience with balance‑sheet reconciliations and familiarity with US GAAP and non‑US GAAP.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced, high‑volume team.
