Lead Network Engineer (Tier 3 Network support)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to join its Global Network Engineering team in Malaysia. You will drive the design, implementation, and support of large‑scale, multi‑vendor MPLS networks, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity for critical payment services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑level (HLD) and low‑level (LLD) network designs for network expansion and greenfield projects.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, engineering teams, and external vendors to validate designs and prepare for go‑live.
• Provide end‑to‑end ownership of solution design, implementation guidance, testing, and operational readiness.
• Support hybrid work arrangements with a minimum of three onsite days and occasional travel as needed.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in core routing and switching protocols (BGP, MP‑BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS‑IS).
• Deep knowledge of spine‑leaf architectures, SD‑WAN solutions, MPLS, traffic engineering, and segment routing.
• Expert‑level proficiency with security platforms such as Cisco ASA/Firepower, Check Point, Palo Alto Networks, and FortiGate.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex Layer‑2/Layer‑3 issues, including packet tracing and routing convergence analysis.
